Metapattern at MOVA | 27 09 25

Aussie export to Berlin, Metapattern, recorded this three-hour set at MOVA in Amsterdam in September. He is playing a gig for KØDE RED at Spice Nightlife in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on Saturday 17 January.

The MOVA set was focused on a wide variety of sci-fi, groove, cinematic, sequence and percussive sounds moving from intensive and expressive layering to more peak-time style simple blends. The idea of the set was to also introduce some sexy parts (like the vocals mid way through) for the crowd on the night. I have been regularly attending Berghain in Berlin for the past six years so I am aiming to distil my experience of the very best sets I had the fortune of being inspired by.

Metapattern

Metapattern is an Australian techno artist based in Berlin, known for a sound that respects the early foundations of the genre while pushing toward new ideas. His work has appeared on labels such as MORD, Hayes, Truncate and Key Vinyl, reflecting a focused, minimalist approach that stays expressive and driven by the dancefloor.

He co-founded Lost Sonar during the pandemic, a project created to film live techno performances and highlight the immediacy of artists working in real time. His sets have taken him to cities including Amsterdam, Melbourne, Kyiv, Tbilisi and Berlin, where his style continues to grow and shift.

Outside of performing, Metapattern is a committed educator. He is an Ableton Certified Trainer and the author of the book The Secrets of Techno Production, sharing knowledge and helping new producers understand both the technique and the culture behind the music.

When asked about his plans for Saturday’s gig for KØDE RED, Metapattern had the following to say:

I will be including my own productions, tracks I have been digging over the past year, unreleased promos and some cheeky IDs I got from a few of the best sets throughout the years. I am hoping to take people on a mini journey in the two hours with various chapters that will flow into each-other dynamically.

Ex Brisbane resident Pete Trimbacher aka METAPATTERN is back from BERLIN to showcase his blood pulsing raw berlin techno beats.

Pete has been busy with huge releases like Silicone Cell & 9925M on labels like MORD (NL) & Hayes (PT) receiving strong support from Berghain heavyweights like DVS1, Ben Klock, Truncate and Tasha.

When Pete is not producing he is teaching others how to make music and was a long standing teacher at SAE in Milton & West End. Currently he teaches his craft in Berlin, Germany at 343 Labs and works with Ableton at their HQ.

Another special talent Pete has is playing live, he last played for us at Elements club event back in 2012 and played an amazing live set.
